Good to Go

Is your family always on the run? Snacking can be a great way to keep your energy up and not get so hungry that you overeat later on. Check out these tips for easy, healthy snacking on the go:

  • Make sandwiches on whole grain bread for packable, hand-held snacks. Go beyond deli meats. Try peanut butter and banana, refried beans and tomato, or hummus and cucumber slices.
  • Make your own trail mix with dried fruit and whole grain cereal. Add nuts or sunflower seeds for healthy fats and protein. Toss it in a zipper baggie and you're good-to-go.
  • Have grab-n-go foods at the ready, like baby carrots, bananas, apples, grapes and cherry tomatoes.
  • Make a batch or two of fruit packed mini-muffins or bars and freeze. Grab as needed. They're healthier and tastier than store-bought breakfast bars.
