What's in Season?
Even though New York has a short growing season, we have fresh fruits and vegetables all year round!
The sun is shining and the warm weather brings us much more variety across the state. Bring your family to a pick-your-own strawberries farm in early summer. Later, enjoy yummy cherries, melons and plums.
Apples and pears are a couple of fall's superstars. The whole family can have fun picking apples. You can also enjoy all of the season's hearty vegetables like beets, cabbage, potatoes, pumpkins and sweet potatoes.
When stored properly, some of our local fresh fruits and veggies will last a long time - like apples, cabbage, beets, potatoes, winter squash, onions, and carrots. Look for them in your local food store or winter farmer's market.
